Whitechapel Murders beginBetween April 1888 and February 1891 eleven murders were committed in the East End, and are now known as the Whitechapel Murders. Five of these are now generally accepted as 'Ripper' murders. The atmosphere in an area extremely close to 47 St George Street, the Herbert & Sons factory, must have been very tense.
