Charlie Reeve

Charles Henry Reeve (1903 - 1979)

 

Charlie Reeve was born on 8th May 1903, and joined the Company in 1924, having previously spent 4½ years at Mattocks & Son, Scalemakers in Walworth Road.

 

Charlie worked in the scale shop at Berry Place and later at Angel Road Works for 43 years, and was a Shop Steward in his time.

 

Charlie retired in May 1968, when the Lion News reported that ‘Mr. A.J. Herbert, presenting a cheque, thanked him for his services to the company and wished Mrs. Reeve and himself a happy retirement in the new home they have planned in Norfolk;  also presented was a stainless steel tea set and condiment set on behalf of his friends in the Company.  Charlie Reeve, in a few words, thanked everyone for the gifts and the kindness shown to him.'

 

Charlie died in May 1979.
