Jock Redpath
Charles Redpath
As his nickname implied, ‘Jock’ Redpath was born in Scotland, and served in the R.A.F. as a fitter during WWII which included a stint in the Azores, following which he joined the Swift Scale Company as a trainee scalemaker.
In 1960 when we took over Swifts, he was one of 11 engineers who joined us and so served a total of 37 years with Swifts and Herberts.
A conscientious and hardworking engineer, he was well liked by our customers, amongst them market traders at Watford, as well as his colleagues in the Company. In his time, Jock was a par golfer playing at Sandy Lodge Golf Club.
Jock retired in August 1983, and moved back to his native country. He died on 6th November 2008.
