Isobel Malyon (1924 – 2009)

 

Isobel Malyon worked for the Company after our move to Haverhill in 1968, mainly in the stores and then progress office, but her connections go much deeper as her husband, Ron, joined the Company in 1961 and both her sons, Derek and Keith, worked for us during the 1970s and 1980s.

 

Ron's connections with the Herbert family go even further back as his father, Frank, taught Jim Herbert in the Army Cadet Force at school in the 1930s.  Ron followed his father into the REME, and after WWII was stationed in Germany until 1960, when he joined us.

 

Isobel had a warm and lively personality and was the life and soul of any party.

 

Isobel and the Malyon family featured in a film called ‘Haverhill' made in 1969, and is shown here on the right in a screenshot from that film.

 

She died on 10th July 2009 at the age of 85.
