Len Moore was born on 2nd November 1909 and was apprenticed in 1923 to Rane & Co. of Reading who specialised in coal weighing machines. He worked for them for 12 years.
In 1935, shortly before Rane & Co were acquired by Pooley's, Len joined us as an outside scale mechanic for the East London area, and took lodgings with Stan Lee’s parents, where he remained until his marriage in 1940.
Len retired on 31st July 1971 after 36 years with the Company, when he was presented with a gold watch by Jim Herbert and a ‘delightful electric clock’ by Bert Baines on behalf of his colleagues.
In October 1977 the Lion News reported that Len had ‘died under rather tragic circumstances' eight weeks after the death of his wife.
