Ernie Robbens

Ernest John Robbens (1897 - 1967)

 

Ernie Robbens was born in Edmonton on 8th June 1897, and joined the Company in 1943 as Trainee Metal Machinist.  He had previously worked at Gestetner Ltd in Tottenham for 2 years,

 

He retired in 1964, when the Lion News reported that ‘At a gathering in the canteen on Friday November 13th, Mr. A.J. Herbert presented Ernie Robbens with a gold watch on his retirement from the company and paid tribute to his 21 years' service.  Mr. Hall, in presenting an electric blanket from his friends, spoke good-humouredly of him and produced a delightful cartoon specially drawn for the occasion by the Drawing Office‘.

 

Ernie died on 10th June 1967.
