Bert Webb
H. Webb
Bert Webb joined the Company in 1938, and was our B Department Representative in Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
He retired in February 1962 after 24 years service, handing over to his successor Mr. F. Johnson.
The Lion News reported that he was ‘a cheery Pickwickian character and well liked by his many friends and acquaintances not only in the Company but also in the Meat Trade, he will be missed by all. A keen cyclist in his younger days, during World War II he refused to accept a petrol ration, laid his car up and covered his area on a push bike’.
Bert Webb died at his home in Watford on 11th April 1974, aged 80.
