Barbara Murray

Barbara Murray (1943 - 2011)

Barbara Murray was born on 9th September 1943, and joined the Company in October 1980 in Manchester as one of our first Customer Liaison Representatives.

Barbara worked with all of our Major Retail customers, such as Tesco, Sainsbury, Fine Fare, EH Booth, William Low, William Jackson, and Woolworths, as well as our Industrial customers, training numerous members of their staff on the use of Herbert equipment.

Barbara's area covered mainly the northern part of the UK, which involved her travelling many miles and being away from home on a regular basis.  She helped with many new product launches including the introduction of linked scales and printers, thermal printers and LVTS (the first Herbert Scale linking software for Tesco in 1988).

Barbara resigned from the Company in February 1992, and died on 21st September 2011.

In her obituary, the Lion News reported that Barbara ‘was thought of with great affection by the customers, and they always looked forward to seeing her again.  She made many friends with colleagues and customers, and will always be remembered for her sense of fun and compassion.'
