Joe Curtis

Joe Curtis ran the local butchers shop in Haverhill, Suffolk for many years until his death in December 1990.

Joe was very helpful in providing a ‘real' shop close to the factory in which to test our prototype machines, both scales and mincers.

The introduction in the 1970s of our first electronic scales, the Lion Monarch and Lion 2000, were a major challenge for the Company, with many teething problems as a result of the completely new technology with encoders, load cells and semi-conductors.

Both machines were trialled by Joe Curtis, who put up with endless bugs in the raw machines in a cheerful manner.  His willingness to help a fellow local business resulted in Joe featuring on the front of our Lion 2000 product brochures, pictured right.
