Coin Scale c1810

Scale with steel beam with box end terminals in a faux tortoiseshell Japanned oval tin box 7¼ in x 2¾  in.

 

The maker is unknown c1810, but these have been in the possession of the family for many years.  They were kindly donated by George Clarke, great great grandson of Thomas Herbert.

 

The box has spaces for two knobbed weights.  Only weight present is a Guinea 5dw 8gr with crown counter mark.
