Beam Scale 1842

This magnificent wrought iron beam scale is 4ft 6in (1.37m) wide, and was typical of beams of the period.

 

The right hand side of the beam is painted with the maker's name, Rd Vandome Titford & Co London, to the right of a painted War Department arrow next to a stamped WD arrow.

 

The left side of one face has the date 1842 under a crown, the reverse side has a sun.  Both sides have ‘Vi R' over a Royal Crown.
